Tim Winter with kindergarten studentsDear South Kitsap Families,

I am honored to serve as superintendent of this great district. Under the leadership of your School Board and with the support of staff, families, and the community, South Kitsap School District will continue to follow the vision of nurturing growth, inspiring achievement, and building community.

We will honor the past and embrace the future as we continue to meet the needs of our students. There is a lot to be proud of here and the unique opportunities that are available to our students are part of what makes South Kitsap such a special place.

During my time in South Kitsap, I’ve received a warm welcome and I’ve been impressed with the caring and compassionate staff working in all areas of the District. I believe people are the #1 resource we have, and if we take care of the staff, they will provide the best educational experience for every student every day. We have developed a Top 5 Priority Plan that will guide our work over the next five years. It focuses on academics, stewardship, student and staff wellness, safety, and community partnerships.

This is a challenging time in our world and in education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We started the year in full remote learning and our families, students, and staff have shown amazing resilience, perseverance, and adaptability. We will return students to campus when it is safe to do so. To be clear, the decision to have students return to buildings will be based on the science related to COVID cases. We will continue to monitor the health situation and will put the health and safety of our students and staff at the forefront of any decision to bring students back.

There are exciting things on the horizon and I’m confident South Kitsap will be one of the top five school districts in the state. We will achieve success in all areas through a culture built on valuing people and creating the conditions for success.

Thank you for your partnership and support!
